NO HOOF, NO HORSE

Working in the horse world one sees a plethora of bad feet. Bad feet are everywhere. Is it our genetics? Our use of space and boarding environments? Our Feeding? Our neglect? Our ignorance? Or is it all of these?

For good feet on a domesticated horse, one needs: movement, proper diet, proper trimming, and to live on the same sort of terrain that the horse works. Drop one of these from the equation and things won't be as easy. That's not to say you can't keep healthy feet on your horse, but rather to stress the importance to every horse owner to be aware of the hoof and aware of the factors that degrade the hoof, as well as improve it.
